講座內(nèi)容：We analyze through experiments how discrimination against ethnic minorities isrelated to the shares of ethnic groups in the population. In our experimentallabor market, employers" set the wage of workers" by estimatingtheir productivity in a real-effort task. For the estimation, employers observethe worker's expected productivity. In some treatments, we provide subtle primingto employers about the ethnicity of workers. We conducted the same experimentallabor market in an ethnic diverse and an ethnic non-diverse province in China.We find that: (1) Han and minority workers are equally productive in both provinces;(2) in the diverse province, there is no difference in the wage between Han andminority workers; (3) in the non-diverse province, minority workers receive awage of 8%-14% lower than Han workers due to Han employers' stereotypes. Wefurther show that the extent of ethnic discrimination signicantly diersbetween the two provinces.
